Exquisite Cadavers

Exquisite Cadavers is a novella about a young couple, Maya and Karim, navigating love, domestic pressure and Islamophobia in London against the backdrop of Brexit. Running through the centre of each page is the fictional account of their relationship, while in the margins Meena Kandasamy sets down a parallel account of her thoughts, research and life while writing it. The title borrows the experimental Oulipian technique of assembling art from many contributors, and the book becomes a literary hall of mirrors about where fiction ends and autobiography begins.
