Mission To Kabul

Lynton

Set in nineteenth century India, the novel follows Mahmoud, who after being jailed for a crime he did not commit is blackmailed into a dangerous mission to Afghanistan. On his journey he meets kindness and trickery, danger and luxury, and is kidnapped, shot, imprisoned by a bounty hunter and arrested by the British. Alongside runs the story of his younger brother Hamidullah, whose secret contact with his employer's daughter, sequestered in purdah, ends disastrously.
