Kabul Disco

Nicolas Wild

A satirical autobiography about a young Frenchman's adventures in Afghanistan. Nicolas Wild is a broke cartoonist about to be homeless when he gets a paid job offer in Kabul. In 2005 he arrives to help a misfit crew of foreigners create a comic book series explaining the new constitution to a largely illiterate population. This graphic memoir captures the early days of the war when Western expatriates still partied in Kabul, with a self-mocking voice and a cynical take on expat life.
