I Married A Communist
Philip Roth
The story of Ira Ringold, a big American roughneck who begins life as a ditch-digger in 1930s Newark, becomes a 1940s radio star, and is destroyed in the McCarthy witch hunt. His marriage to radio actress Eve Frame turns from romance to treachery, and her public accusation of his espionage turns private drama into national scandal. Narrated by Nathan Zuckerman.
