The Far Field
Madhuri Vijay
After her mother's death, Shalini, a privileged young woman from Bangalore, travels to a remote village in the Himalayas in Kashmir. She is searching for Bashir Ahmed, a charming Kashmiri salesman who came into her childhood home and disappeared, and whom she holds responsible for her family's unraveling. In the village she is drawn into a web of local rivalries and the politics of a troubled region, and her search leads to consequences she never imagined. A meditation on grief, guilt, class and the limits of compassion.
