My thoughts

4.5/5stars Every house has a story to tell. My second book by Riley Sager and I'm starting to see a pattern here. So here are couple of things about this book and the author in general- 1. His plot twists are really good. I loved this book so much only for the beautifully developed plot, my own active imagination clubbed with the fact that i finished a major chunk of it in one night def gave me the chills. 2. BUT what I DON'T like about it(and probably all books by the author? I had the same complaint with [b:Lock Every Door|41837243|Lock Every Door|Riley Sager|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1540938359l/41837243._SY75_.jpg|65308942] too ) is that the female protagonists are always so (for lack of a better term) dumb and it's so frustrating to read. I physically cringed so many times. The over trusting, naïve, stereotypical underdeveloped female characters is even more concerning when it's coming from an author who is actually a male but writing under an ambiguous pen name which might lead people to think it's a female author. That is something I do not like, at all. 3. That being said, did I love the reading experience? yes except for the Dave mansplaining stuff to her and tho I kinda predicted the big revelation midway through the book, the twist at the very very end of the book(the last 20 pages) def took me by surprise. 4. While I do not like how the female characters are always so weak in this author's books, I do enjoy myself a good mystery so I might go ahead and give his other works a chance as well. And to also see if this pattern still continues and that I should totally give up on this author? When you stare into the abyss, the abyss also stares into you. ^my fav quote from the book. oh and TW for murder and graphic body horror, look into that before going into this one.
