My thoughts

The finest of pleasures are always the unexpected ones. ^this quote from the book describes my feelings towards this book in a nutshell 3.5/5 stars This was my first Erin Morgenstern book and to say that I am absolutely most certainly in love with the writing style is more than an understatement. The writing is so beautiful, so vivid it is definitely one of the best writings I've read in a while. For someone who loves being able to picture every scene as vividly as possible (especially in magical/fantastical settings) this book was a delight. Each and every description, every detail about the tents, the magic, the circus is so elegant, so captivating that I'm left in awe after reading it. One more thing i absolutely loved about the writing style was the switching up of point of views, it would be going on in first person and there will be this paragraph from my (the reader's) pov and that made me so much more invested in the story. Although the frequent switches in timelines and povs may seem confusing to some people, I personally found it very intriguing. The whole build-up around the central plot line and the so many complex side characters who played an equally crucial role in the storyline progress were something I absolutely adored. “I have been surrounded by love letters you two have built each other for years, encased in tents.” If you don't like slow paced, character driven books which take their time to unfurl the plot, you might not like this very much. But I'm all for such books so yes absolutely loved it. Even tho I love a detailed description of things before the plot is revealed, i was a bit bored at certain places and found myself skipping ahead a few details, so do i see how some people might not like it but hey you have to give it a chance to develop. To be enchanted by the mesmerizing details of it. so yes if you love anything magical, anything circus related or a book with the most vivid descriptions, this is right up your alley!
