My thoughts

3.5/5stars ...stories can make someone immortal as long as someone else is willing to listen. Adam Silvera books always make me cry for some reason. And this was no exception. Although the experience of proximity to death and living with the anxiety of it, all day everyday, might have been the most prominent reason this time. No matter how we choose to live, we both die at the end. This is a very touching story of Mataeo and Rufus who have both received the Death Cast alert today confirming that they are gonna die in the next 24 hours. They met through the "Last Friend" app and decide to spend their last day together. You may be born into a family, but you walk into friendships. Some you’ll discover you should put behind you. Others are worth every risk. Even tho the whole book has the looming impending feeling of death around it, it is also a sweet sweet romance between two guys which I absolutely loved seeing. Definitely one of my better reads by this author. It's mad twisted, but surviving showed me it's better to be alive wishing I was dead than dying wishing I could live forever. CWs for the book: death of mother (childbirth), death of family via drowning caused by car accident (mother, father, sibling), reference to serial killings, father in coma, physical assault, death themes, suicide of parent, incarcerated parents, animal death (gore), death of parents in house fire (arson), use of ableist language, absent mother, death of father (multiple sclerosis), death of ant (ectopic pregnancy), diagnosis of chronic muscle disease, reference to bullying, suicidal ideation, suicide bombing, explosion, reference to multiple suicides, death via car crash/accident, death via fire
