Kim Jiyoung, Born 1982 opens Goodreads in a new tab
Cho Nam-Joo
Kim Jiyoung is a thirty-three-year-old woman who begins to speak in the voices of other women, alarming her husband and family. As her psychiatrist pieces together her life, from a childhood in a family favoring her brother to school, work, and motherhood, a portrait emerges of the quiet discrimination women face every day. Cho Nam-Joo's bestselling Korean novel is a spare and unsettling look at gender inequality in modern South Korea.

My thoughts
when every sentence of the book makes your blood boil you know it's a damn well book. Kim Jiyoung is me. She is you. She is every other girl in the asian subcontinent. Because we might have come a long way when it comes to science and technology but the unsaid rules and expectations for women still remain the same. i wanted to scream at every man (even women sometimes) in this book and just tell me how full of shit they are. this is gonna be my new Know My Name and i will not shut up about it until and unless i make every man i know read it.
