2.5 ⭐️ rounded up to three. best way I can describe my thoughts after reading this book is that this book was supposed to scratch an itch for me- a very particular itch, but it somehow left me wanting even more than before i’d read the book. this book had all the components and tropes that I know I would have liked, loved, hell even devoured but somehow the result was not what I had expected it to be? a dark academia setting with a magical school and the library of Alexandria exists again it was a guaranteed concoction for success right?? RIGHT?? but alas. maybe it was because I had too high expectations or maybe because I’m still getting off the high of the other book by the same author- “alone with you in the ether”, this somehow paled in comparison. or maybe i am just not seeing what all the booktok girlies are seeing in this one.
