If on a Winter's Night a Traveler opens Goodreads in a new tab

This is not one novel but ten, each with a different plot, style, ambience and author, and each interrupted at a moment of suspense. Built on an analogy between the reader's desire to finish a story and the lover's desire to consummate passion, it follows two bemused readers whose attempts to reach the end of the same book are constantly and comically frustrated. Along the way they meet an international conspiracy, a rogue translator, an elusive novelist and a disintegrating publishing house, in a literary labyrinth of interrupted storylines, an Arabian Nights of the postmodern age.
