My thoughts

5/5stars "I still have a lot to figure out, but the one thing I know is, wherever you are, that’s where I belong. I’ll never belong anywhere like I belong with you." I am usually not that harsh with my ratings but I also don't give 5 stars that often. But this book had it coming from like the first 20%. I have always been very apprehensive of the best friends to lovers trope cous nope. uh-huh. nope. All it took was one book by Emily Henry to sway my mind haha! For a lot of people, the whole switch between past and present after every chapter did not work so well, but for me, that was actually the cherry on the cake. I like my romances slow-building and angsty so the whole build-up and the occasional breaks (because we switched to a past timeline) was just perfect. And to add on, the past timeline depicted how miserable things went. almost like picking at a wound and then immediately soothing it with the present timeline events. It was just chef's kiss! All in all, the plot was right, the characters were all so strong and unique and most importantly people here understood the concept of boundaries. Despite them being together Poppy knows that there are certain things she just can't do because that is disrespecting Alex's personal space and boundaries, and that is okay. It might not be a big thing for others but these reaffirmations were really nice to read and know, for me. And the way Alex's ex was for a change not portrayed as a b*tch and an actual real human with feelings and valid arguments and a kind heart. That was wholesome. I'm on vacation. Vacations always end. It's the very fact that it's finite that makes traveling special. You could move to any one of those destinations you loved in small doses, and it wouldn't be the spellbinding, life-altering seven days you spend there as a guest, letting a place into your heart fully, letting it change you. The whole idea of the title of the story (which we get to know of only in the last couple of pages) WAS SO DAMN CUTE! this book had me yearning and crying at 2 AM. Just fucking perfect! READ IT ALREADY! Book Trigger Warnings- Mentions of depicitons of anxiety, loss of a parent, bullying
