My thoughts

As if I’ve never held dear my feminist rage, never thought about how I feel so politically aligned with womanhood and yet hate inhabiting it, hate it when my body is read as such. 3.5/5 rounded up interesting memoir that blends queerness with religion in a way i have never seen done before. not necessarily how i view religion but i can see how having those thoughts/rewriting parts of the religious texts helps shape the author’s experiences. (to everyone mad about Lamya viewing religion different from how you do lmao grow up please) lots of aspects of the book i personally could not relate just on the basis of how I view religion or how my religion has shaped my life experiences but nevertheless I can see myself maybe agreeing with her version of religious experiences in some ideal world where the real life clash between my identity and what my religion upholds did not exist. would still recommend this to anyone grappling with coming to terms with their own sexuality and beliefs about their faith. esp, if you are brown, queer, and an immigrant. lots of these identities and experiences would be similar across the board there.
