Cleopatra and Frankenstein opens Goodreads in a new tab

Coco Mellors

Twenty-four-year-old British painter Cleo has escaped to New York and meets Frank, a self-made success twenty years her senior whose life is full of the excesses she lacks. He offers her the chance to be happy, the freedom to paint, and a green card. Their impulsive marriage irreversibly changes both their lives and the lives of those close to them in unexpected ways. Set against a young and flashy New York, with interludes in Paris and Rome, this debut novel explores love, friendship, addiction and trauma.

My thoughts

rr june 2024- liked it more than the first time around- i was so mad at the sheer drag that this book was the last time that even the somewhat nice ending didn’t soothe my anger lol. but this time around it def did. still do hate some of these characters so much but oh well, it was a fun time at least idk. you telling me THIS took 7 years to write? fucking midass shit
