All Systems Red (The Murderbot Diaries, #1) opens Goodreads in a new tab

Martha Wells

In a corporate-dominated spacefaring future, planetary missions must be approved and supplied by the Company. Exploratory teams are accompanied by Company-supplied security androids for their own safety. But in a world where the least expensive option is always the preferred one, corners are cut, and people are lost. Dr. Mensah's team is on an unexplored planet when one of its security units, a self-aware cyborg that has hacked its own governor module and calls itself Murderbot, finds itself in the middle of a conspiracy. Its only desire is to be left alone to watch its serials.

My thoughts

4.5/5 stars. absolutely fucking loved murderbot. i rarely laugh out loud reading books, but this? Multiple times! and the robot's awkwardness and quirky remarks regarding humans? cherry on the cake lol. will definitely binge the series over the weekend.
