My thoughts

pleasantly surprised by this retelling of hindu mythological epic- ramayana. and this is a definitely a beautifully done modern day spin off the story of Kaikeyi- probably one of the most hated women (stereotypical step mom archetype) in hindu mythology. absolutely loved the (rightful) calling out of the central characters’ behaviour in this version of very real issues like rampant misogyny and she definitely took liberty with talking about the issues existing in that world. which is expected of a “modern day retelling”- do we really expect the same old patriarchal narratives here too? what’s the point of a retelling then? i don’t get the outrage i see in some reviews here.
