My thoughts

4.5/5 🌟 okay picture a supervillain business that a divorced substitute teacher has inherited from his long apparently estranged uncle and now he is trying to make it as one of them- supervillains. but his uncle had a bunch of people who not only send flowers arrangements with “suck it” and “dead. lol” for his funeral- and now Charlie (our mmc) has to face and somehow outsmart them. but you know what else he has? something really insane and powerful. hyper intelligent spy cats- who can type, own real estate and frankly are far better company than most men in this book (see tech dudebros) he also has proletariat dolphins who he helps unionise and who understand the concepts of class hierarchy, once again, better than most humans. plus there are alot of actual laughing out loud moments. so all in all, i had a really fun time reading this book and Scalzi is fast becoming an auto read author for me, after this, and the Kaiju Preservation Society. ps: one extra star is solely for the talking cats, dolphins, and for the volcanic lair on the island :P
