She Started It opens Goodreads in a new tab

Sian Gilbert

Poppy Greer invites her old friends Annabel, Chloe, Esther and Tanya to her extravagant bachelorette party on a luxe private island in the Bahamas. None of them has spoken to Poppy in years, and they quickly discover they have underestimated her and each other. As darkest secrets are revealed, the getaway turns into a terrifying tropical nightmare. A twisty summer thriller for fans of Lucy Foley and Liane Moriarty, described as Lord of the Flies meets And Then There Were None, but with Instagram and too much prosecco.

My thoughts

did i clock the twist in the first fifty pages? yes did i absolutely get bored halfway through because it sounded repetitive and dull? also yes are all of the characters intentionally the biggest assholes on the planet? definitely yes but it was still an enjoyable one sitter read. definitely a premise that has been done multiple times before but still yk, good for a debut :3
